Blizzard
has announced the first WoW Classic official Esports event:
“For the first time in WoW
Classic, World of Warcraft Esports presents the Summer Bowl. The WoW Classic
Summer Bowl is a 10v10 Warsong Gulch tournament beginning on June 17th.”
The
developers are planning to bring PvP into the professional scene of the title
with the new Summer Bowl Warsong Gulch event!
The
tournament will be split into two regions: North America and Europe, and it will
kick off on June 20 with qualifiers for competitors in Europe, while North
American players can get involved from June 27. All games will take place on
live servers for WoW Classic, using the recently added War Game feature.
Over
the following three weekends, North America and Europe teams will compete for a
separate prize pool of USD $4,000 in each region!
If
you don’t play wow, Warsong Gulch is a PvP battleground that consists of a
10v10 Capture the Flag match. The first team to capture the opposing flag three
times, and this team wins!
Here’s How It Works:
1.
Each
team’s 10 players will sign up in their respective region. Only eligible players
with a level 60 character on live servers in WoW Classic can sign up.
2.
Qualifiers
and Finals stages are two stages in the tournament.
3.
After
signing up, players will sign up for the qualifiers, and the top six teams will
move onto the finals for their regions.
4.
Players
will queue up in battlegrounds against other teams in their region using the
War Game feature. The top six teams of both regions will move on to compete for
$4,000, and brag rights of winning the first official Classic Esports
event - Summer Bowl.
How to Get in on the Action?
All
players must have a character level 60 and a team of at least 10
members to participate the event. Only 10 members would be allowed to
participate in any one matchup. The actual Summer Bowl event will take place on
July 4-5.
There
are many experienced PvP players who have never had the opportunity to shine in
the classic version of the game, so don’t hesitate to take part in this event. World
of Warcraft supports a competitive format for the latest expansion of the game.
