FFXIV New Player Tips

This post was originally appeared on MmoGah.

When new players start to play Final Fantasy XIV, they might miss out on some important things along the way. Here I have some tips from someone who has made many mistakes during his journey. Hopefully, you don’t make them.

FFXIV New Player Tips

Hunting Log

To level up fast in Final Fantasy XIV, the first way you can get is to active the Hunting Log. It is available after completing your first class quest at your class guild.

Some players might have activated it without knowing. You can press H to find out. There is a list of monsters you need to kill for every ten levels. These mobs are in areas you need to visit anyway. So, look up in your Hunting Log when you are out doing other quests. They also have a crescent symbol on their name.

When you finish killing one of them, you get a small reward of experience, but you can get a massive reward of experience when you kill all ten.

hunting log

Food Buff

Just like in real life, you have to eat. Food buffs can give you 3% extra experience, so always have some food on you and always have the food buff on when you are killing.

Do not worry too much about the stats in the early game, as long as it can increase experience. You can use FFXIV Gil to buy food from vendors or on the Market Board.

Sanctuary Boost

Sanctuary is the big Aetheryte Crystals that you can teleport to. A message will display when you enter a sanctuary, and a crescent moon will show at the right of your experience bar.

Be sure to put your character at a Sanctuary place when you log off. Next time you log in, you will get some rested experience bonus. The longer you rest, the more experience bonus you get. It increases the battle experience by 50%.

Aetheryte Crystal

Free Company

Joining a Free Company will give you buffs like increased experience earned through battle, up to 15%, increased experience earned by companions, up to 15%, reduced teleportation fees, and many other types of buffs. It depends on the FC.

Hall of The Novice

When you reach level 15 with at least one Disciple of War or Magic, you can speak with the Smith NPC at the Adventurers’ Guild in each city and several other locations to register for Hall of the Novice training. You can get a Brand-new Ring after you finish it, which increases 30% experience gain when at or below level 30.

Please keep it in your inventory after hitting level 31 because you still need it for leveling other classes.

Brand-new Ring

Daily Roulette

Daily Roulette is a way to get a massive chunk of experience for doing a dungeon or a guild quest for the first time that day. So, make sure you go and do them.

If you don’t want to do it on your main class, try to level up a second class, it is a perfect system for bringing up a healer or a tank. First, you have to level them up to 16, then do Daily Roulette every day.

Chocobo Companion

Chocobo isn’t only a Mount but also your companion and your best friend.

At level 30, your Chocobo can fight with you. There is a quest called “My Feisty Little Chocobo”, the quest is in South Shroud X: 20.3 Y: 21.6, NPC name: Luquelot.

After you complete the quest, you can summon your Chocobo with Gysahl Greens, and you can change the stance in the companion menu. There are Free Stance, Defender Stance, Healer Stance, and Attacker Stance. You can choose one that fits you the best, and remember to summon it out when you are fighting in the open world to progress and level up your Chocobo.

Vesper Bay Aetheryte Ticket

It is a small thing, but this one can drive you crazy if you don’t know about the tickets. As part of your MSQ (Main Scenario Quest), you will have to go to an area called The Waking Sand in Vesper Bay, and you have to go there A LOT to pick up quests and hand in quests. It is a long way to get there if you don’t use the Vesper Bay Aetheryte Ticket.

Check your inventory first if you need to go there, it will teleport you straight to Vesper Bay, and there are enough tickets to take you there for every single piece of story content you need to do. As you progress the MSQ, you will get more of them.

Vesper Bay Aetheryte Ticket

Grand Company

Once you join a GC (Grand Company), level your GC as soon as possible because many things are behind it. The way to level your GC in the early game is the GC Hunting Log.

When you press H, there is a GC icon under your classes. Click it to check your GC Hunting Log.

Instead of giving experience, GC Hunting Log provides seals, do whatever you can to promote your GC to Sergeant Second Class, then you can do Expert Delivery. You can exchange items from dungeons and trials that you don’t want for easy seals.

Palace of the Dead

The Palace of the Dead is an ever-changing dungeon. It is never quite the same each time you enter to explore its depths. All players will begin at level 1, and only by fighting the enemies within will you be able to gain the strength and experience needed to explore its shadowy depths.

The MSQ will not lead you there, so you have to get the quest yourself. It is a blue quest called “The House That Death Built” in New Gridania X:12.0 Y:13.1. You have to complete the MSQ “Into a Copper Hell” first, which means after you finish your first dungeon.

It is an excellent way to try out new classes or try your current one. As you progress up, you get to see what the skills look like at level 60, and you can find out you like the class or not.

Palace of the Dead

Have Fun

My final tip is to have fun, the MSQ isn’t going anywhere, and you only get to experience it once.

If you enjoy fishing, you can go ocean fishing whenever you feel like, take some breaks from leveling. If you enjoy the golden saucer, go and have fun, or do whatever you want to do, make sure you’re having fun.

The game gives you as much as you put in, so don’t fall for the grind, pace yourself and enjoy the game.

If you are on the fence about trying the game, there is a free trial up to level 60. Go ahead and have fun!

Breaking Brick Mountains Event in FFXIV

There is a collaboration event- Breaking Brick Mountains coming in Final Fantasy XIV on October 19, and there are event items that you might want to get.

Breaking Brick Mountains

This event is the same as in 2014, 2017, and 2020. If you made progress during a previous iteration, you may continue from where you left off. You can check your Journal to determine your current quest progress. If you did not attend any of the former events, this is your chance to participate in it and get the rewards.

Event Time Period

Thug’s Mug looks like a gas mask with horns on it, and the item level is 10.

Wind-up Brickman is a Minion made with bricks.

King Slime Crown is a blue hat with a face and a crown, and the item level is 1. You can purchase it with FFXIV Gil during this event by speaking with the Toughie in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald (X:8.2 Y:12.2).

The Seasonal Event Replay Feature

You can play past events again via the Seasonal Event Replay feature. This feature is available to players who completed the event in the past or completed it for the first time during this event.

If you have completed the "Breaking Brick Mountains" quest, speak to Havak Alvak to make use of the Seasonal Event Replay feature. Once you use the feature, the quest will be treated as incomplete, allowing you to play it again:

If you have completed the quest, but one of your friends has not, you can use the replay feature to play with your friend. Otherwise, there is no need to replay it because you can not obtain the rewards more than once.

Lastly

If you are too busy with other things and don’t have the time to do the event, you can go to MmoGah for FFXIV Power Leveling, and then they will do the event and get all the event items for you.

If you don’t want to buy Power Leveling, you can also wait for the next Breaking Brick Mountains event.

As long as the game has the Seasonal Event Replay feature, they will keep doing the old events from time to time for new players to play.

Things To Do Before Endwalker in FFXIV

This post originally appeared on MmoGah.

Most players in Final Fantasy XIV are waiting for the next expansion-Endwalker, which has two months left before its release. What can we do to get ready for it?

Here I have separated players into four stages

Stage One: You have leveled everything to the max level.

Stage Two: You have at least one job at the max level.

Stage Three: You have one job that is almost to the max level.

Stage Four: You have just started the game.

Stage One

If you are at stage one, then you are a master of this game. You can take some time off if you feel like it, or keep playing and help new players, or hang out with friends in-game.

Well, there are two things you might need to do before the new expansion.

    1. You can prepare a decent amount of FFXIV Gil. Whether it is in real life or in-game life, it is always good to be prepared.
    2. Clean your inventory. The new expansion comes with higher levels, new stories, new dungeons, and new items, so you should make enough room for the new things.

Stage Two

If you are at stage two, you can focus on one job first, which is to get the best equipment to have a higher start at the beginning of the new expansion and clear some dungeons. If you have already done that, you can farm mounts, minions, or glamours that you like. Also, remember to prepare Gil and clean your inventory.

If you haven’t done Coils and Omega, you should get them done before the new expansion. Those were the two things that the FFXIV story writer-Natsuko Ishikawa said that you really should go through. That’s the recommendation that she has if you want any hints on the story for Endwalker. You should also do previous side contents if you have more time, such as Four Lords, Werlyt, Eureka, Bozja, and all the Job Quests.

Stage Three

If your highest level is almost to the max level, then you should keep working on that. There are still two months for you to catch up and get ready for Endwalker. Remember to finish your main scenario quests as well.

If you don’t have plenty of time to level up yourself and want to play the new expansion when it first comes out, you can buy FFXIV Power Leveling at MmoGah. They will level up your character and do the main scenario quests, but you have to learn all the new skills afterward.

If you have more time, then you should clear the side contents in stage two.

Stage Four

If you are at stage four and far from the max level, then no rush, take your time and enjoy the game.

You can play the game like there is no new expansion coming. Eventually, you will get there.

Don’t forget to level up your retainers too.

No matter what stage you are at, you can always collect Squadron Battle Manuals, which increases 15% EXP earned by defeating enemies in the field, and the duration is 120 minutes. In this way, you can level up faster when the new expansion comes or whenever you want to level up a battle class.

Personal Thoughts about Weapon Design Contest 2021

This post originally appeared on MmoGah.

Do you know that Square Enix is doing a weapon design contest now? It is my first time knowing they do these brilliant contests for the game - Final Fantasy XIV.

yellow umbrella

When the game designers lack new ideas, it is good to gather new thoughts from its players, and the players would be glad to take part in making things for the game they all enjoy playing.

For a worldwide game with so many players that once caused login caps, I believe we have players with all kinds of talents, and of course, there are many players with art skills. I think many of them have great ideas for the game and weapons.

This time, your task is not to design attire, nor furnishing, but a weapon of your choice from all currently existing jobs. We can know that players once designed attire and furnishing based on that, and the results were good. Otherwise, they would not do these kinds of contests anymore. In the former contests, players must have shown great talents, so the task is more significant this time, which are weapons.

For me, I would gladly use weapons that I designed and show them to everyone that I know! But I don’t have the chance to show off because I have no thoughts about any weapon features. Anyway, I am good with other players' designed weapons too.

Are you one of the talented players? Would you like to spend time and effort designing weapons? Well, I hope all the players with the abilities would take part in it, so other players can have the chance to play with the weapons that you have designed.

I hope you can take the chance and give it a try, and some prizes are waiting for you too. (Prizes cannot be sold for FFXIV Gil or transferred.)

One hundred (100) entrants qualified as finalists will each receive the yellow umbrella and all seven decorations.

Three hundred (300) entrants qualified as runners-up will each receive all seven decorations but no umbrella.

rewards

Entry Period: You may enter the Promotion only between August 30, 2021 at 1:00 am (PDT) / 8:00 (GMT) / 9:00 (BST) and October 4, 2021 at 7:59 am (PDT) / 14:59 (GMT) / 15:59 (BST)

Make sure to deliver your designs in time!

You can check The Lodestone for more details about the contest.

Let us all do what we can to make this game a legend of our time, yes, of our time because when our kids grow up, they will create and build things beyond our imagination.

The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding in FFXIV

This post originally appeared on MmoGah.

Have you attended any in-game weddings before? Or do you even know you can get married in-game? If you haven’t been to any or don’t know it exist, then let me walk you through the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding in Final Fantasy XIV.

image

Ceremony Service Plans

In order to hold a Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, players must submit an application via the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station.

You can choose from one of three plans: standard, gold, and platinum. While the gold and platinum plans will incur a fee, they also include a number of additional options, including venue customization and mounts.

Standard Plan

The entry-level ceremony plan. Includes eternity rings, ceremony attire, a special emote, a special furnishing item, and special hairstyles.

Gold Plan

In addition to the features included in the standard plan, the gold plan offers dyeable ceremony attire, a special ceremony Chocobo, carpeting and flower color options, and additional options for the ceremony's procession and recession.

Platinum Plan

In addition to the features included in the standard and gold plans, the platinum plan offers additional dyeable ceremony attire and additional color options for carpeting and flowers.

For guests, you’ll need an invitation to attend a wedding, which is a scroll with a time and place on it. When the time is up, speak with the NPC outside of the door to get into the waiting room.

Entry

The ceremony begins when the groom and bride ring their Eternity Bells, and all the guests will be in a cutscene where shows the pretty chapel and all lovely settings for the wedding.

image

Then the big door opens and shows the couple with wedding dresses or suits that they have chosen, and slowly walk to the front together. The bride holds a bouquet in her hands, just like in real-life weddings. It is such a romantic and beautiful scene.

Say Their Vows

The cutscene stops when they walk to the front of Choir Moogle (The wedding is proceeded by Choir Moogle). Then the Moogle starts to talk.

Choir Moogle: Was that not the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? It was The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of these, kupo!

Choir Moogle: If anything can top that entrance, it would probably be an emotional exchange of vows, which, as luck would have it, our couple has prepared for us all! You have prepared some, right?

Then the couple can say what they want to say to each other or all of their friends there.

After that, the couple can ring the Eternity Bells to proceed to the next stage of the Bonding Ceremony. If they don’t ring the bell, the ceremony would automatically proceed after a set amount of time has elapsed, which is 10 minutes.

Exchange Rings

image

Then it is time for them to exchange their rings. The Moogle would say many things and then begin the cutscene. In the cutscene, another Moogle shows up and magically puts two glowing balls on the table, which can change to big rings after putting them on their hands.

image

Because there are many different races with different heights, so they do the ring exchange in a magic way, which is one character summons a glowing ball to their hand and then makes it fly to the other character’s hand. When the ring lands, it turns into a big diamond ring, and the character looks at the ring and smiles. Then the other character summons the ring and does the same thing. After it’s all done, they show their rings together for everyone to witness it.

Kiss Time

Choir Moogle does her magic to give the couple pretty wings to make them fly in the air, so the characters can line up for the kiss no matter what the height difference is. The development groups are so genius to think of this way to deal with limitations like this. Excellent!

image

Choir Moogle: I’ll gladly pronounce the two of you bonded for all eternity, kupo!

Then the rest time is free, couples and guests are free to move around in the chapel, and can also take group photographs or throw out fireworks, champagnes, or whatever you have. The limit time is 20 minutes, or till the couples ring their Eternity Bells.

One Last Cutscene

image

In the last cutscene, the couple walk together to the entry, then the cutscene switches to outside, and you can see the couple are on a two-seated white Chocobo Mount, then they happily walk away. The end of the ceremony.

Wedding Gift

You can get two Minions for attending a wedding, one is called Bridesmoogle, which is a tiny Moogle flies in the air with a basket full of petals, and she throws petals out in the air. The other one is called Demon Box, which is a spriggan holding a heart gemstone hiding under a present box. They are adorable.

Do you have the eagerness to get married in FFXIV now? If you do, then find yourself a partner and get married! And also, read the details carefully before planning your wedding. Whenever you need FFXIV Gil, you can go to MmoGah to buy some and write your legend in Eorzea.

Important Side Quests in FFXIV Level 50-80

If you are new to Final Fantasy XIV and leveled your first battle class to level 50 or above, then you can find helpful information about important side quests for level 50-80 here. If you are under level 50, check for Important Side Quests in FFXIV Level 1-50.

side quests 50-80 1

There are four things you need to know first:

  • If your character is at the current level, but you still can't see the quest, then check for your main story quest level. It needs to be at that level too, or beyond it.

  • If you don't know where to get the quest, you can copy the quest's name and check it on Gamer Escape. It will show you the NPC location and the rewards, typically including EXP, FF14 Gil, and/or items.

  • I will not mention things you automatically unlock from doing the main story quests or your class and job quests because they are your top priority.

  • Those quests are only for your first battle class, no crafting and gathering content because you can always get them later.

Heavensward

At level 50, when the main story takes you to the Heavensward city, you can then unlock the Heavensward's new jobs:

Astrologian Specialization: Unlocked upon completion of Stairway to the Heavens side quest.

You can check your progress in the travel menu under Aether Currents.

lv70 Dungeons

At level 70, It is the same as Level 50 and 60, so there are many side Dungeons, Trials, and Raids too, but you can put them off till later. If you want to do some of them, I recommend Ivalice Raids storyline, which is for your Shadowbringer's relic weapon later. To unlock Ivalice Raids, you have to complete Dramatis Personae side quest first.

Shadowbringers elite Hunts Access: Unlocked upon completion of Too Many Nutters side quest.

Stone, Sky, Sea Access: Unlocked upon completion of Yet Another Striking Opportunity side quest. (It is a way to figure out what your DPS is like.)

lv80 Dungeons

You are at max level now, so you can freely pick any of these side Dungeons, Trails, and Raids. If you don't know where to start, I suggest you start with Sorrow of Werlyt trials. It is available after completing Ruby Doomsday side quest. (The story is really good.)

There are two side dungeons you should do too because they are amazing.

  1. The Twinning Dungeon Access: Unlocked upon completion of By the Time You Hear This side quest.
  2. Akadaemia Anyder (Duty) Dungeon Access: Unlocked upon completion of Akadaemia Anyder side quest.

The Bozjan Southern Front Access: Unlocked upon completion of Where Eagles Nest side quest. (It is related to your relic weapon.)

Ronka Minion

Ronka Minion

Since you are at max level now, there is a level 70 side quest you should pick up, and it gives you a minion.

The Great Serpent of Ronka Minion: Received upon completion of Protectors of the Wood side quest. It can respond to certain emotes, but I am leaving it for you to test out what emotes it responds to.

In the end

I hope the information here can help you to safely reach the max level and save your time from doing all the side quests or prevent you from escaping important side quests.

Now you can do pretty much everything you feel like doing, such as crafting, gathering, fishing, or pick up the dungeons you have skipped.

If you feel like owning a house, then you can buy one! But if you are short on FFXIV Gil, I recommend you MmoGah to buy safe and fast FFXIV Gil. If you want to play other classes/jobs but don't want to go through all the leveling again, just so you know, they also provide FFXIV Power Leveling. You can bookmark MmoGah for your future needs.
